Real Time worked with young people from the Kickz community project at Reading Football Club to produce a short film which was screened before the championship clash with Ipswich Town

The filming in Reading was part of project to encourage football clubs to get involved in creative arts projects supported by the Football Foundation. The young people planned, recorded and edited a video based on their experiences and the work of Reading Football Club and the Kickz initiative in the local community. Kickz takes constructive activity into targeted local estates and areas with high instances of anti-social behaviour.
The video project enabled the young people to gain unprecedented access to the football club, they made a number of short films, a tour of the stadium included interviews with the essential behind the scenes staff. They lined up alongside the BBC and sky sports presenters at the training ground and interviewed star striker Kevin Doyle. The films also included interviews with the police and local youth organisations.
The first screening at Reading’s home ground, the Madejski Stadium just before the Reading v Ipswich kick-off, meant the film was seen by over 19,000 people. The young people also attained their Bronze Arts Award, and received praise from Arts Award for their inventive use of video to document their achievements.
The project received extensive media coverage:
